Photo Shoot

I went to a small town near my home with some gorgeous girls today, and they weren't shy being models for me to practice on. Our favorite places to shoot? A narrow alley, and a brightly colored shingled shack.

And then we ended with a fun one. It looked like a surf shack, so they all went surfing.

Dude is on FIRE!

Not that I don't love taking pictures of landscapes and flowers, but if I could make a living by photography, I'd want to be a photojournalist. I am amazed by photojournalism, and the way a picture really can be worth a thousand words.

I, however, have no real talent for that. This is evident by my lack of ability to adequately even cover a piano recital or t-ball game. But at Disney, everything is possible. Dreams come true. All that jazz. So here I am, pretending to be a photojournalist.

It isn't war or anything. It's a stunt show. But still - look!! That dude is on fire, and I caught it!

Okay, off to get a few shots of the roses blooming in the backyard. Sigh. Back to reality.

A Boy and his Dog

When I went out to shoot the sunset tonight, there was a little boy, maybe six years old, playing in the frigid Pacific waters with his yellow lab. The joy was so contagious, I must have taken 50 pictures of them.

Morning Yoga

I woke to snow on the beach this morning. Who sees this thing outside of Alaska? Snow... on the beach. It seemed an oxy-moron. I dashed out in the early morning light to capture it before it melted, and there was this man, doing his morning exercise. I loved his contrast against the white.

When there's no ocean...

These surfers found a wave where two rivers came together and were condensed through one drainage pipe.  The surfing was an amazing show of impromptu coordination. One surfer would dive in and surf until he wiped out. He'd ride over the wave while the next one dove in. They kept this continuous line moving. Fascinating to watch!

Lovely

Still working on people portraits. My favorites are probably the ones I catch off guard instead of posing. This was caught as the girl was walking through the garden.

Wondering

I don't know these people. Usually when I take a picture like this, I make sure it's someone I know. But I wonder about these people now. Who are they? What brings them here? Are they tourists or local? What are they talking about? Are they looking at the scene and talking about the beauty of it, or are they lost in their own world, in their own problems and dreams and lives, not really seeing what's there?

Summer Surprise

Caught by a spray of water from the hose.

Still working on manual settings, and trying to get some good people shots. I'm going to start having to bribe kids in the neighborhood to pose for me. :)
