Overboard

At the local farmer's market. And yes, I'm usually the only one stalking the fruit and veggies with a camera.

Standing Out In The Crowd

This is one I took a few years ago. It still remains one of my favorites.

Something Old

I never get tired of taking flower pictures, but I do get tired of posting them. Unfortunately it's been a hectic week and this is all I've got. After the weekend I'll get more creative!

Bug-A-Boo

This guy is about the size of a thumbnail. I wish I could have gotten him sharper, but he was too high to use a tripod, there was a breeze, and my hands are not the steadiest. But I love the color and the soft curves of the petals in contrast to the sharp angles of him.

Flipping The 'Bird

A standard maneuver for the Blue Angels. The title is really only cute if this was a picture of the thunderbirds, so let's pretend, shall we?  :)

The Culprit

I took this several years ago, but every spring when my rose bush blooms gorgeously... and then the buds are eaten into small pieces overnight... I think of him.

Summer Surprise

Caught by a spray of water from the hose.

Still working on manual settings, and trying to get some good people shots. I'm going to start having to bribe kids in the neighborhood to pose for me. :)

Lily

Not only have I been playing around with my manual metering, I've been rooting around in my parents' basement to dig out my dad's old lenses. And by old, I mean old. While I was hoping to find a wide angle, what I did find was a 135mm prime lens that's th digital equivalent of 2.8. It's a heavy thing and I still was unable to get any really good portrait shots with it, but it takes great flower pictures.

I'm feeling destined to only be good at flowers.

More Sour than Sweet

One of those things that looked prettier in person than in a photo. Working on taking all photos on manual setting instead of relying on a priority setting. Which may mean the next week or two are interesting.  :)

Rushing Through Suburbia

This photo is taken at Great Falls, VA. Literally, it is five minutes off the exit of 495, the eight lane highway known locally as the Beltway, a nightmare of a road whose reputation is one of traffic logjams and mphs that often don't get above 5mph.  If you didn't know it was there, you'd never know it was there.

I alternately like this photo and am disappointed with it. I like the blue sky peeking through and the sharpness of the rocks, but the light seems flat (it was...it was very overcast), and it feels like I needed a wider lens to get a good sense of the wideness of space.

On the other hand, taking an hour or two walking through this oasis in the middle of the over-crowded and chaotic suburban life I live was as refreshing as...well, as a waterfall.
